Dear Honorable Consul,
SAM SUNDAY- PASSPORT NO AO234567 AND JUNE SUNDAY – PASSPORT NO – A02343377
My name is David Sunday, and I reside at 4532 68th Street, New York, NY 12546. I am a United States citizen (or lawful permanent resident alien).
I am requesting that you issue a tourist (B-2) visa to my parents Mr Sam Sunday and Mrs June Sunday, in order to allow them to visit with me in the United States. I have not seen my parents in the last 4 years and I would like her to visit, this summer.
Mr and Mrs Sunday will be visiting with me from June 1st 2010 to June 30th 2010. This will be a great time because I will be off work at this time. During their stay in the United States, they will stay with me at my home at the address stated above.
I will be responsible for all of their accommodation expenses while they are in the United States. Upon the termination of their visit, I will personally ensure that they return to Accra, Ghana.
My Parents will be presenting this letter to you, together with other evidence to establish their close ties with Ghana, and to assure you that they will return prior to the expiration of their stay in the United States.
Your kind consideration to this request will be greatly appreciated.
Yours Truly,

Invitation Letter to Parents (Addressed to them)
In most cases, the above letter is sufficient. However, some people prefer to write a second letter that is addressed to the Parents. In my experience any one of these letter is good enough. However if you want to be double sure, you can send both letters.

Hello
I am a permanent resident of US. I came here on F1 visa 4 years ago. I am planning to take my graduation walk this year so that my parents can attend. I have a little brother who goes to school in India. Do you think my brother being with them increases/decreases their chance of getting a tourist visa approved. I am planning to get invitation letter from my school for all three of them.
Hi Punam,
I don’t think inviting your brother will affect the chances of your parents. As long as your parents can show that they will return to India after the visit.
Hello,
I am a US citizen and I would like to invite a friend from Cuba to come visit. Her ties to the country are strong as she has elderly parents she takes care of so I do not think it will be a problem. I do not have a passport of my own. I can get one but I wanted to send the letter soon so I am wondering if there is any other form of identification I could send?
Hi Emily,
You can send a scanned copy of your birth certificate.
Is it necessary for inviation letter to include passport or green card number? Will ID card number be enough or not?
Hi,my boyfriend is inviting me to USA and I have already bought my visa fee…..the problem here I don’t work yet in Nigeria so you think my visa will be granted
I am a US Permanent resident and I want to invite my mother and my niece who is 13 yrs old . what can I do
Hi, my sister in-law who is a citizen of America wants to invite my mum in Nigeria for a visit for her baby shower and pregnancy care. Is it advisable to mention her pregnancyand baby shower in the invitation letter? Please what should be the content of the letter. Thanks
ok
Hi, I would like to invite my mother to attend my daughters promotion. My mother will be accompanied by my niece in the travel and going for interview too. How will I do my letter? and what should I put on it?
Also, would it be one letter for both of them? Sorry for too much inquiry, thanks for all your help 🙂
Hi Moji,
I’m not sure I understand what you mean by promotion. If your mom must have someone accompany her, then you need to write the letter to include both of them. You would mention their details and reason why your mom must be accompanied.
Hi , i’m due to deliver my first baby in December and would like to invite my parent to help out asper the Nigeria culture. I don’t know how to write a good invitation letter. My dad is a retired Nigeria military . i’m a legal permanent citizen, my husband is a US citizen. Your help will be greatly appreciated .
Hi Faith,
You can follow any of the samples on this page and include the fact you want your mother to be there with you during the time. The visa officers already know about that.
